PhyloSIB workshop hosted by Institute of Applied Simulation

This year, for the first time, PhyloSIB was hosted at ZHAW in Wädenswil. The workshop was organised by the IAS' Applied Computational Genomics team, lead by Dr. Maria Anisimova.

PhyloSIB is an annual workshop for SIB groups with an emphasis on molecular evolution, phylogenetics and comparative phylogenomics. Since 2006, the full-day meeting has been organized by the Swiss-Prot group together with an alternating SIB research group that hosts the event. Goal of the meeting is the exchange of knowledge and the discussion of current studies and recent developments in phylogeny. Participants are typically developers of analysis tools, authors of databases, expert users and students on their way there.

Around 40 persons from universities in Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, Geneva, as well as from Agroscope and SIB were attending the workshop.

ZHAW and SIB, Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, maintain a close collaboration in the field of computational life sciences.
