5th International Workshop DynPOWER 2021

The international workshop DynPOWER takes place every year in autumn and is organized by Dr. Rafael Segundo and Prof. Petr Korba. The workshop is a free event that brings together an international panel of experts from industry and science to discuss and present solutions for the future of energy.

The fifth edition of the workshop will take place on 13 September.

Task Force Application of Big Data Analytic on Transmission System Dynamic Security Assessment

The newly founded IEEE Task Force, led by the Electric Power Systems and Smart Grids research group, will be working on technical and regulatory solutions for transmission systems for a period of three years (2020-2023).

The Task Force is globally networked and embedded in the Power & Energy Society of the international engineering association IEEE.

Integrating Renewable Energies

Power generation from renewable energy sources such as wind energy or photovoltaic fluctuates and varies based on the weather. The electric capacity currently being generated hardly correlates with our current power use. This fact calls for new solutions, e.g. capacitors which balance the delayed production and use characteristic.

Core Area

Intelligent grids, so-called smart grids, which are being developed at the Institute of Energy Systems and Fluid Engineering (IEFE), can continue to optimally adapt regionally differing generation and consumption requirements to one another. In this way, locally generated surplus electrical energy can be transferred to where it is actually needed.

Or vice versa, the current electricity consumption must be adapted to the locally generated available electrical energy. Only in this way can electrical energy systems be operated in a stable manner in the future.

The Electrical Power Systems and Smart Grids Research Group relies on Lucas-Nülle Systems in teaching and research. Petr Korba explains the reasons for this in an interview.
