Walt Disney Method

Background: Assumes that different values, strategies and objectives prevail in an organisation. These should not hinder each other. Instead, they are resources. To ensure this, the participants slip into different roles.

Goal: Classical idea generation and evaluation. The method is suitable as an exercise for leaving deadlocked role patterns in organisations and for finding business ideas.

Approach: In the joint session, all participants take on one of the three roles one after the other. 1) The dreamer: represents the vision and creates ideas. 2) The realist: focuses on the feasibility of the ideas. 3) The critic: is the devil's advocate and sees only the risks and weaknesses of the idea. The creative process is to be seen as a cycle. An idea is created, checked for feasibility and then criticized. Idea, feasibility and criticism are recorded. Then the process begins anew, possibly with the same or exchanged roles.

Advantage: Team members leave their usual perspective and a) break out of ordinary thinking structures and b) practice thinking in the perspective of other departments/employees/target groups.

Disadvantage: For untrained people, the role change can sometimes be difficult, especially if the results of the individual roles are not clearly defined. Requires a trained moderator.
