Flight Test Lab 2023

As every year, the Flight Test Lab took place in Nordholz this August.

This year's Flight Test Lab (FTL) took place from August 21 to 25 in Nordholz on the German North Sea coast. In the cooperation between ZHAW and FH Aachen (DE), which has been in place since 2010 and is supported by the hosts from SFG Nordholz/Cuxhaven, students from both universities have the opportunity to gain insights into the working methods of flight test engineers and test pilots.

The students use their comprehensive knowledge of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, propulsion systems as well as meteorology to independently conduct flight tests on topics related to flight dynamics and performance. Current topics, such as electric aircraft, are also intensively researched and provide students with insights into the future of aviation. The results of this research are presented at a symposium in Aachen at the end of the semester.

The FTL in Nordholz is undoubtedly a highlight of the participants' studies, as it not only deepens theoretical knowledge but also promotes practical skills and cooperation between universities.
