The ZHAW Institute of Facility Management (IFM) is part of the School of Life Sciences and Facility Management and has two locations in Wädenswil and in Zurich. The IFM is the Swiss competency centre for bachelor's and master's courses, further education, research and development, and services in real estate and facility management. A team of 50 dedicated experts, we are committed to advancing science and practice in the management of real estate, workplaces and facility services throughout the entire life cycle of a property. Our teaching is practice-oriented, and our graduates are sought-after specialists and managers in industry, both in Switzerland and internationally.

Study
Bachelor of Science in Facility Management
In the Bachelor of Science in Facility Management you study one of four specialisations: Real Estate, Building Systems, Workplace or Services&Events. You learn
- to manage real estate economically and sustainably.
- to optimise building systems.
- to design workplaces.
- to organise services and events.
The course consists of three semesters of foundational studies, one practical semester, and two semesters of advanced studies.
Master of Science in Real Estate und Facility Management
With the new Master of Science in Real Estate and Facility Management, you qualify for positions in middle and upper management, or are well-prepared for an academic career.
You can choose from three specialisations:
- Economics & Finance
- Digitalisation & Sustainability or
- Strategic Real Estate & Facility Management.
The part-time master's programme is aimed at those with a bachelor's degree, preferably in the fields of real estate and facility management, architecture, civil engineering, business administration, building services engineering or the hotel industry.
Continuing Education
At the IFM, you will find a large number of continuing education courses (Certificate of Advanced Studies CAS, Master of Advanced Studies MAS, Diploma of Advanced Studies DAS). Put together your individual training programme with us.
We are part of EN Bau, Kompetenz in nachhaltigem Bauen (Competency in Sustainable Construction), a collaboration of five universities of applied sciences, and together we offer the MAS in Nachhaltigem Bauen.
Research/Services
With our research we contribute to the development and innovation of processes, organisations, methods and products of facility management. We work on current and future economic and social issues.
