FDA draft guidance sets lead limits for juices
An FDA draft guidance on lead levels in juices sets the action level for lead in apple juice at 10 parts per billion, which is lower than for other juices because young children drink that type of juice most often.
The agency said the proposed action level for apple juice could reduce lead exposures among children by 46%, while the 20-ppb action level for other juices could reduce lead exposures by 19%.
