EU proposes maximum limits for cereulide in infant formula
In response to recent safety concerns, the Commission is proposing to introduce additional checks for baby formula and special infant foods.
This will ensure the toxin cereulide is not present in the following foodstuffs sold in the EU:
dried infant formulae
dried dietary foods for special medical purposes, intended for infants under 6 months
dried follow-on formulae.
The goal is to make these foods safer for all children in the EU, while ensuring fair and consistent rules for EU producers.
The feedback periods lasts until 29 September 2026.
