Automated Driving in future mobility systems: user preferences and modelled transport development

At a glance

Description

The focus of this research is the identification of relevant behavioral parameters, which are then mapped in the “Nationalen Personenverkehrsmodell“ of DETEC. The intention is to assess the potential traffic effects induced by a diffusion of automated vehicles in Switzerland. In the initialization phase, a detailed analysis of relevant parameters and population segments that can be modelled is carried out on the basis of an in-depth literature study and results from other projects. In coordination with the project committee, reference scenarios will be defined, which will serve as a common focal point in the discussions in the focus groups. Preliminary questionnaires and discussion guidelines (derivation of a first code scheme for later evaluation of the discussions in the focus groups) are created, as well as a concept for mapping respective behavioral parameters in the traffic model. This happens in close coordination between the empirical approach and the capabilities of the traffic model: the design of questionnaires and discussion guidelines are refined to ensure that the empirical data includes those aspects of automated driving that have not yet been researched (for Switzerland) on the one hand. On the other hand, it has to be considered that these aspects can also be mapped in the traffic model.
