Expertise and research interests

My focus is on helping people live in their own homes as long as possible despite chronic illness. In teaching, I am interested in the field of qualitative social research, living with impairments across the lifespan. I am also interested in the use of digital services to enable independent living. I am interested in mentoring international students to promote cross-cultural understanding and competencies in health professions education.
I am interested in person-centred and community-oriented care with focus on:
- improving capacity for self-management and self-care, e.g. daily life with hearing and
visual impairments; cognitive impairments;
- increasing health literacy, e.g. Digital Inclusion in Health and Social Care;
- Role Development in Advanced Nursing Practice;
- promotion of Caring Compassionate Communities and Societies;
- promoting intercultural awareness
