Veryst® Engineering Drop tower

Veryst® Engineering Drop Tower

Test setup for investigating strain-rate-dependent material behavior; tensile and compression tests at high test speeds

Technische Daten:

  • Max. force: 2.2 kN tensile; 22 kN compressive
  • Test modes: Tensile and compressive tests at high strain rates
  • Max. strain rates: 500/s (tensile) and 2000/s (compressive)
  • Photron high-speed camera, analysis using DIC (digital image correlation)
  • Camera frame rate: 80,000 frames/s
  • Reduction of unwanted vibrations during polymer testing
  • High-resolution time-series display of measured forces, stresses, and strains
  • Generation of stress-strain diagrams using strain definitions according to Biot, Cauchy, Euler-Almansi, Hencky, Lagrange, and others
  • Additional weights enable compression tests at low drop heights while still achieving high strains
  • Possible specimen geometries: ISO 527-2 1BB, ISO 37 Type 3, ASTM D638 Type V, or similar
