Thermal Design Lab

The Thermo Lab investigates thermal processes and heat flows in materials, devices and biological systems.

The Thermal Design Lab focuses on the experimental thermal characterisation of materials and systems. The aim is to generate reliable thermophysical data that can be used as a basis for modelling, simulation and design of new materials and processes.

To this end, thermal imaging cameras covering various spectral ranges, contact temperature sensors, density and viscosity measurement equipment for liquids, and measuring equipment for determining the thermal conductivity and heat capacity of liquids and solids are available.

The Thermal Design Lab thus provides the necessary precise input data and validation measurements for our physics-based models, thereby supporting the development of energy-efficient and thermally optimised systems.
