Bachelor's degree Aviation: Specialisation

Aviation is a diverse, technology-driven field. After completing a solid foundational education, you will specialise in the final third of your studies according to your career goals, choosing between Technical Engineering, Operational Engineering, or a combined pathway with Airline Transport Pilot training.

Specialisation Technical Engineering

In the Technical Engineering specialisation, you will engage with key areas of aeronautical engineering. The focus is on developing a detailed understanding of aircraft systems, as well as topics relevant to the design and analysis of aircraft structures. In addition, you will explore subjects related to maintenance and flight safety, deepening your knowledge through practical, real-world problem-solving.

  • Aircraft systems
  • Flight mechanics
  • Flight simulation
  • Aircraft structures
  • System reliability, maintainability and safety

Specialisation Operational Engineering

In the Operational Engineering specialisation, you will focus on the operational aspects of aviation and their efficient design. You will deepen your understanding of flight operations and the underlying infrastructure, while also addressing key issues in aviation management. Furthermore, you will learn how to analyse and optimise complex transport systems. Another important focus is on the design and evaluation of safety-critical human–machine interfaces, for example in aircraft cockpits or air traffic control stations.

  • Flight operations
  • Advanced study of infrastructure
  • Aviation management
  • Transport systems
  • Human–machine interaction
  • System reliability, maintainability and safety

Specialisation Airline Transport Pilot

The Aviation degree programme can be combined with obtaining a license. This opportunity is unique in Switzerland and makes it possible to shorten the training period since the academic basis for the licensing theory is already provided in the Aviation degree programme. The practical training is completed at partner companies during the holiday periods.

This dual degree (Bachelor degree and license) will ideally prepare you to successfully start a career in aviation and also ensure you are capable of assuming additional responsibilities.

  • Entry into the combined degree programme requires successful passing of the corresponding aptitude test. This can be completed during your studies or before you begin.
  • The combined degree programme involves additional costs (flight training).
  • It is not possible to credit previously obtained licences towards the academic programme.
