Aconity3D MIDI

Modular PBF-LB/M (LPBF, SLM) facility for interdisciplinary research in the field of additive manufacturing at the interface between mechanical engineering and materials science. Equipped with numerous monitoring sensors, the system enables specialised in-situ tests to be carried out to investigate the relationship between process, structure and properties, particularly with regard to residual stresses and distortion.

The facility is operated by the Institute of Mechanical Systems in collaboration with the Institute of Materials and Process Engineering.

• Two lasers: 500W (Gauss, ≥50µm), 1200W (Ring, ≥100µm)
• Built Plate Heating: < 800°C
• Operation Monitoring:
  • co-axial dual pyrometry (500-2500°C), 
  • High-speed thermography,
  • High-speed weld pool monitoring (5kHz, 320x320px),
  • In-situ experimental stage (temperature, strain, …)
