Human Performance & Biomechanics Lab
The Human Performance & Biomechanics Lab provides an integrated research environment for the quantitative analysis of human movement, muscle activity, kinetics and physiological performance. State-of-the-art motion analysis systems, electromyography as well as force- and pressure measurement technology are combined to study human biomechanics and the interaction between humans, medical devices, and assistive systems.
Our infrastructure includes optical and wearable motion analysis systems, wireless electromyography, force plates, pressure measurement systems, and indirect calorimetry systems. The modular laboratory environment enables the synchronous acquisition of kinematic, kinetic, and physiological data and can be flexibly integrated into individual experimental setups and biomechanical simulation models.
Together with clinical, scientific, and industrial partners, we support projects ranging from feasibility studies and prototype evaluations to biomechanical validations and human factors studies, all the way through to the development of evidence-based evaluation methods for medical devices, rehabilitation technologies, and ergonomic solutions.
