Join us! Why Choose a Master's in Environmental and Natural Resources?

How can we make the transition to a sustainable society? Which ideas, strategies, methods, and solutions enable this transformation? These questions form the starting point of this unique master’s programme, which combines technological, natural and social science disciplines to address the critical challenges of our time. You will select one of the following three specialisations – Agroecology and Food Systems, Biodiversity and Ecosystems or Ecological Engineering and Renewable Energy – receiving personalised guidance from our experts.

"I want to actively work towards a future worth living in. In the master's programme, I am learning everything I need to do this, and I can combine what I am learning with my knowledge from other study programmes."

Your specialisation

You choose your own Master Research Unit (MRU): Agroecology and Food Systems, Biodiversity and Ecosystems, or Ecological Engineering and Renewable Energy.

Within this MRU, you will become part of a research group who will provide you with in-depth insights into their work, and you will build professional relationships with our industry and research partners. You can choose the standard (30 ECTS) or the extended (45 ECTS) option. The extended option allows you to specialise even further in your field.

Choose your specialisation:

Agroecology and Food Systems: We examine the complex relationships in food systems and develop innovative solutions for sustainable development based on agroecological principles.

Biodiversity and Ecosystems:  We examine and research the diverse interactions and networks in terrestrial and aquatic systems in rural and urban areas.

Ecological Engineering and Renewable Energy: We research and develop sustainable energy and mobility systems, examining how eco-technologies form key elements of a sustainable society.

"After my bachelor's degree, I wanted to broaden my horizons and expand my knowledge of the environment and sustainability. This master's allowed me to combine my biological background with technical expertise, and offered a diverse curriculum that catered to my varied interests."
