DeCIRRA - Negativ Emissions Technologien

At a glance

Description

The decarbonisation of cities and regions is one of the challenges that must be overcome in order to achieve the net-zero target by 2050. In a transdisciplinary framework, the Innosuisse Flagship DeCIRRA addresses the following questions: How can we decarbonise cities and regions? How can we optimise the use of local resources and existing infrastructure? What role can energy suppliers and renewable gases play in the transition to net zero? Negative emission technologies (NET) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) can contribute to the decarbonisation of Switzerland. In this sub-project, these technologies are analysed from an interdisciplinary perspective, taking into account both the technical and economic aspects. Specifically, the main focus is on carbon capture and utilisation/storage (CCUS), i.e. capture at point sources, direct air capture (DAC), the use of timber construction and biochar.
