Description
Citizen-financed photovoltaics (CiFi PV) enables individuals to participate in the energy transition via small investments into solar power plants. Currently a niche sector, the potential of CiFi PV to finance the energy transition can be unlocked with offers that reach beyond early adopters, appealing to a mainstream audience (potential adopters). The proposed project aims to gain a holistic understanding of the potentials and barriers to CiFi PV by combining three complementary perspectives:
- Expert interviews with CiFi PV providers and an analysis of the Swiss and EU CiFi PV market generate an overview of challenges for mobilising small private investments (WP1).
- Surveying early adopters provides insights into their motivations and decision-making processes (WP2).
- WP3 tests experimentally which offers appeal to potential adopters.
WP4 will synthesize all insights with practical expertise from our industry partners (advisory group) and provide evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and CiFi PV providers.
