PhD position 80 – 100 %

The project “Evaluating, Identifying and Reducing determinants MHC in Youth (EARLY, https://www.early-project.eu/.)" aims to reduce mental health conditions among 15-24 year-olds in 13 countries. The ZHAW participates in 4 work packages.

School: School of Health Professions
Starting date: 15. August 2024 or by agreement

Your role

  • Obtaining a PhD and participation in a doctoral program 
  • Support of the project management, including coordination with European project partners 
  • Literature research activities
  • Planning and implementation of the cross-sectional data collection 
  • Data analysis of the national EARLY cross-sectional data 
  • Scientific dissemination activities (publications, congress abstracts) 
  • Participation in teaching activities 
  • The contract is limited to 3 years

Your profile

  • Successfully completed Master degree (MSc/MA) in medicine, public health, psychology, health professions, social sciences or a similar discipline. 
  • Motivation for independent scientific work and strong interest in the topic of the study
  • Strong team player, reliability, good communication and self-organization skills 
  • Good oral and written language skills in German and English 
  • Experience in quantitative data analysis and in the use of software for data analysis (e.g., R, Stata) preferable (or strong commitment to learn quantitative analysis
  • We offer the opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary project in the highly relevant field of mental public health. You will benefit from the excellent European research team and international collaboration. Your workplace will Winterthur. Enrollment at a Swiss university and in a doctoral program is obligatory. The choice of University and the PhD program will be decided on the basis of the PhDs background and established ZHAW network. PhDs are requested to join the School of Health Sciences PhD-peer group, which is led and organized by the PhDs themselves.
