The transformation of education

The ZHAW is pooling its expertise in the new Academic Affairs Office to foster comprehensive education and learning processes in different life situations.

The ZHAW aims to make a positive contribution to lifelong learning by implementing its strategies on lifelong learning and education and digital transformation. The ZHAW understands lifelong learning as a person’s continuous development through educational and learning processes in different life situations and throughout their lifetime. With its very practical approach, the ZHAW, as a university of applied sciences, offers the ideal environment for education and development.

Securing employability

The expectations placed on university graduates have increased significantly in recent years. Nowadays, they are expected to work self-efficaciously and flexibly across disciplines, with professional, social and entrepreneurial skills to boot. In addition to its strategies on lifelong learning and education and digital transformation, the ZHAW has therefore also adapted its organizational structure. Since 1 April 2022, the Academic Affairs Office has merged the know-how of the former units on academic affairs and continuing education to implement and execute these strategies in a holistic manner. Reto Steiner, Dean of the ZHAW School of Management and Law and Head of Academic Affairs Office, is in charge of the new office’s strategic management. Patrick Hunger, Head of Academic Affairs Unit, is responsible for its operational management. With the new structure, the ZHAW is enhancing the employability of its students in a nationally and globally competitive environment, which in turn strengthens the economic area of Zurich and Switzerland as a whole.
