Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disease affecting the structure and function of the kidney. CKD is associated with a substantially higher risk of death, mainly due to cardiovascular disease, and substantially lower health-related quality of life. Renal anemia is a frequent complication of CKD. The objective of this study is the assessment of epidemiology, treatment and costs of CKD and of renal anemia in patients with CKD in Switzerland based on different data sources.
