Manifold challenges

ALUMNI ZHAW maintains exchanges and networking despite difficult conditions.

Challenges give rise to new approaches and creative ideas, especially when it comes to communicating with others – be it in writing, online or together in a physical setting. 2021 was a challenging year in many respects. With their choice of events and topics, the disciplines provided their members with a diverse range of activities, including tours of the herb garden, fun and games in VR City and discussions about the opportunities and risks presented by machine translation. The two photo shoots for professional job application photos, which were each offered to ZHAW graduates, were fully booked once more this year. At the General Meeting, the members voted in writing (due to the coronavirus pandemic) for all disciplines to join FH SCHWEIZ, the only national umbrella association for graduates of all disciplines stemming from the universities of applied sciences. In addition to other decisions, elections were also held to complete the Board, while approval was granted for changes to the Articles of Association and financial regulations.

A difference in opinions between the association and the ZHAW about the tasks, competencies and responsibilities of the office led to the Executive Board terminating the contract with ALUMNI ZHAW at the end of 2022. Nevertheless, the Executive Board has expressed that it is important that the cooperation with ALUMNI ZHAW (especially between the disciplines and the Schools) remains possible and is continued on a different basis after the dissolution of the office at the ZHAW.
