Institute of Wealth & Asset Management

“There is a strong demand for high-quality products and solutions in the financial centre. The main drivers are increasing requirements in terms of sustainability and technical innovations, especially in the areas of data science and machine learning. We address these cross-cutting issues with interdisciplinary teams.”

Prof. Dr. Peter Schwendner, Head Institute of Wealth & Asset Management

The Institute of Wealth & Asset Management (IWA) is a partner of various Swiss and foreign institutions in research and industry and makes a significant contribution to the development of qualified experts in the financial services sector. Within the scope of our educational mandate, we provide one Bachelor's and one Master's program in Banking and Finance. In addition, we offer a wide range of continuing education programs and courses designed for professionals and executives. In the field of research and consulting, we focus on investment and trading processes as well as alternative risk premiums in the context of asset management. Wealth management topics include business and customer processes as well as new service models and corporate governance. Quantitative finance and data sciences are further core topics. The Institute has three centers covering the thematic focus areas.

Core Competencies

Continuing Education

Our continuing education program includes extensive certificate programs as well as specific courses and seminars. These are continuously reviewed and updated according to the latest scientific research and knowledge from the industry. On request, we also conduct tailor-made in-house continuing education programs and organize workshops on forward and succession planning for business leaders.

Research and Consulting

We conduct research into various aspects of our core competences: Asset Management, Personal Finance & Wealth Management sowie Data Science & Econometrics. Large research projects are mostly supported by state funding (Innosuisse) and we also participate in EU-sponsored research projects. Research findings directly improve our consulting projects conducted on behalf of national and international financial service providers such as banks, pension funds, or insurance companies. Different collaborative arrangements may range from student project work to comprehensive analysis and business consulting. When necessary, we draw on the expertise of competent partner institutions in Switzerland and abroad.
