Bachelor's / Master's Theses
Turn a real marketing challenge from your organization into a student thesis project.
Topics
Questions can come from any area of marketing. Faculty at the Institute of Marketing Management are happy to help select and refine the topic or research question.
Past examples span the full breadth of marketing across various fields and industries – from market research and marketing concepts to internal marketing analyses. To meet the goals of the degree program, topics must offer a certain degree of novelty and be addressed on a scientific basis.
Confidentiality guaranteed: If your organization would like the thesis classified as confidential, it won't be made available for viewing, distribution, or publication within or outside the university.
Set-Up
Students
Bachelor's and Master of Science students are in the final stage of their studies and already have solid marketing knowledge. Many also bring some work experience gained alongside their studies and/or a completed vocational apprenticeship.
Scope
Students work on the research question for 14 weeks. The result is a written thesis of 40–80 pages, excluding appendices such as survey data and additional analyses.
Timeline
Topics are advertised each year in August/September, with work on the thesis typically taking place during the spring semester from late February to May.
Please get in touch early to submit a topic.
Supervision
Supervision is provided by faculty and research associates at the Institute of Marketing Management. Since the thesis counts as an assessed academic requirement for students, good results are the norm, but they cannot be guaranteed by the supervisors.
Your Contribution
A contribution of CHF 1,000 for a Bachelor's thesis or CHF 2,000 for a Master's thesis covers supervision by faculty and research associates at the Institute – a cost-effective way to gain fresh, research-based insights for your organization.
