Costs and Financial Support
The costs of study abroad vary significantly. The most important cost factors when studying abroad are the standard of living in the host country, your personal lifestyle, the recreational activities of each student, and travel costs.

Living expenses
Based on the experience of former students, the cost for a one-semester study abroad (five months) is between CHF 6,000.- and CHF 20,000.-. This includes travel, excursions, rent, food, recreational activities, and insurance.
Financial support
Depending on the host destination, there are various options available for applying for financial support during your study abroad.
Program | Form of support |
---|---|
Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP) | Students studying abroad at SEMP partner schools may apply for an SEMP mobility grant. |
SML Mobility Scholarship | If you spend your exchange semester at a non-European partner university, you can apply for an SML mobility scholarship. |
Please note there is no legal entitlement to a financial support grant. Further details can be found on the respective webpage.
