Generative AI is Becoming an Everyday Technology

Generative artificial intelligence has arrived in the Swiss working world – it is widely used, perceived as helpful, and increasingly integrated into everyday life. These are the findings of the latest AI Barometer Study 2025 by ZHAW in collaboration with VOICETECHHUB.

Key findings

  • Familiarity and frequency of use: 67 percent of respondents feel they are familiar with generative AI, 80 percent have already gained personal experience, and 43 percent use the technology in a professional context on a daily basis.

  • Attitude toward future use: 98 percent of respondents intend to continue using generative AI in the future. It is estimated as increasing productivity (85%) and useful in everyday life (83%).

  • Variety of applications: AI solutions are viewed as particularly suitable for text creation (85%), personalized content (79%), and multilingual conversations or translations (78%).
  • Reliability and security: While 68 percent are of the opinion that generative AI is helpful for users, only 40 percent are convinced it is a reliable solution. Even fewer consider generative AI to be trustworthy (21%) or secure (20%).

  • Motivation and learning effort: Most respondents associate generative AI with having fun (80%) and entertainment (61%), while 79 percent said they find it easy to learn to use.

The study’s findings show an increasing awareness and widespread use of generative AI in the Swiss economy. “It has long been more than a short-term trend and is increasingly becoming an integral part of everyday digital life,” explains Dr. Gioia Volkmar, who headed up the ZHAW study.

The AI Barometer Study 2025 confirms that the technological foundation has been laid. According to those responsible for conducting the study, clear responsibilities, transparent communication, ongoing training, and cultural change that sustainably and strategically establishes the joy of innovation are required for companies to exploit the full potential of generative AI.
