Prof. Dr. Martin Braschler is the new head of InIT
Martin Braschler, lecturer and lead of a research group at the Institute for Applied Information Technology (InIT) since 2005, will take over as head of the institute on June 1, 2023. He succeeds Marc Rennhard, who has been appointed head of the IEM department as of March of this year.
Martin Braschler founded the research group Information Engineering, now Intelligent Information Systems, at InIT and led it until the end of February. Since 2017, he was Deputy Head of Institute, and Acting Head of Institute since March. He studied Computer Science at ETH Zurich and received his PhD from the Université de Neuchâtel. He has been teaching and researching for 25 years in the field of Information Retrieval: the extraction of information from unstructured data. He is one of the co-founders of the ZHAW Datalab and was instrumental in the conception of the Data Science bachelor program. Before joining the ZHAW, Martin Braschler was a project manager and responsible for research at the company Eurospider Information Technology, a spin-off of the ETH Zurich, which builds innovative information access applications.
