UK: New regulated product application system launched by the FSA and FSS
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) launch new system for Regulated Products.
On 20 June 2023, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) have launched a new system for businesses to make applications for Regulated Products. These are certain types of food and feed ingredients that require authorisation before they can be sold in the UK.
You need to apply for a regulated product authorisation if you wish to place one of the following product types on the market in the UK.
- extraction solvents
- feed additives
- feed for particular nutritional uses (PARNUTS)
- feed detoxification processes
- flavourings
- food contact materials
- food additives
- food enzymes
- genetically modified organisms (GMOs) as food and feed
- irradiated food
- novel foods
- smoke flavourings
