MOVEO - Intelligent Framework für Future Mobility

The international MOVEO project develops an intelligent framework to seamlessly connect transport infrastructure (roads, railways, airports) with vehicles (cars, trains, ships) for inclusive, sustainable, and efficient mobility. With partners from 9 European countries, MOVEO bridges gaps through five pillars:

  1. Infrastructure redesign for multi-modal transport.
  2. AI-powered inspection using IoT and edge computing.
  3. Digital Twin platforms for integrated data management.
  4. Smart logistics for door-to-door mobility.
  5. Inclusivity via ethnographic research and co-creation.

ZHAW’s Leadership:
Leading Work Packages 4.1 and 4.2, ZHAW optimizes multi-modal transport hubs with Demo 1 in Winterthur as a key case study:

  • Supporting Winterthur’s urban spatial strategy by analyzing car, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic in Winterthur
  • Simulating passenger flows to assess the impact of the new bridge and transport hub to improve connectivity and reduce congestion.
  • Optimizing the public transport offer by minimizing the travel times for commuters and by offering convenient and efficient connections between various public transport modes at the hub. 

Validated through 5 European demonstrators, MOVEO unites the full transport value chain to shape tomorrow’s mobility.
