Information for New Students

Welcome to the ZHAW School of Management and Law!

In September, you will begin your studies. We are pleased that you have decided to study at the ZHAW School of Management and Law and hope you will do well and enjoy your studies.

We have created this site to make the start easier for you and to help you complete all the administrative matters you will have to deal with. Here you will find all the information, links, and documents you will need to get started.

Orientation Days

Bachelor's Degree Programs

You will begin your studies with a day of orientation in CW 37. This applies to students of Business Administration, Business Information Technology, and Business Law.

Students of International Management have two days of orientation.

Orientation will help you deal with administrative and organizational matters and allow you to get to know the campus, your fellow students, and how various processes work before the official start of classes. At the end of July, we will mail you the orientation schedule as well as other important information to help you get started. The regular semester start is on Monday, in CW 38, which is when your classes will begin in accordance with the timetable.

Master's Degree Programs

You will begin your studies with a day of orientation in CW 37. For students of International Business, the orientation day is in CW 35.

Important: Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
As one of the conditions for admission to the program, you will have to submit your BSc degree certificate (original copy). The submission deadline is Friday, in CW 38, 4.00pm. If you are unable to comply because you will not receive your degree certificate on time, please use our form Confirmation of Successful Completion of BSc Program.

IT

To become familiar with our infrastructure as soon as possible, go to IT Information, where you will find useful instructions and video tutorials.

Do you need a new electronic device before the start of the semester? Our Techshop, which is run by ZHAW students, has a wide range of articles for sale. 

To create a user account for our online shop, you need a registration code. To request one, please scan in your confirmation of admission please scan in your confirmation of admission ("Zulassungsbestätigung") and send it to techshop@zhaw.ch

Organizational matters

From the end of July, all the information you will need to get started, such as the class to which you have been assigned and the links to the timetable tool and your book list will be available on the SML Intranet site. The links you need can also be found on this page.

To enable us to determine which Swiss canton is liable to pay for your studies, you need to complete the personal data sheet. You will receive more information by e-mail in June.
