Information for New Students

Welcome to the ZHAW School of Management and Law!

In September, you will begin your studies. We are pleased that you have decided to study at the ZHAW School of Management and Law and hope you will do well and enjoy your studies.

Welcome Days

During the Welcome Days, you will learn everything you need to know about your study program. You will get to know your class and can socialize with your fellow students over a drink at the ALIAS bar. In addition to the information events held by the program director, you can expect guided tours of the campus. You can ask experienced tutors questions, find out about the library, the cafeteria on campus, tools, university sports and the timetable - in short, you will receive all the information you need for a successful start to your studies.

We warmly welcome you and wish you an exciting and successful time at the ZHAW School of Management and Law!

Your studies will begin with a Welcome Day in calendar week 37. There will be two consecutive Welcome Days for the BSc International Management program.

Important: Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
As one of the conditions for admission to the program, you will have to submit your Bachelors degree certificate (original copy).

The submission deadline is Friday, in calendar week 37, 4.00pm, with the exception of MSc International Business, in this case the Bachelors degree certificate must be submitted by Friday, calendar week 34, 4.00pm at the latest.

If you are unable to comply because you will not receive your degree certificate on time, please use our form Confirmation of Successful Completion of BSc Program (except MSc IB)(DOC 18,2 KB) and for the MSc International Business the following form Confirmation of Successful Completion of BSc Program (MSc IB).(DOC 18,2 KB)

IT

We have created a step-by-step guide for the registration of our key services (user account, notebook configuration und software download). You can find the guide in our Self-service portal. Click on Students, then New Student Orientation.

You will need a personal notebook for your studies. The minimum requirements (hardware, operating system) are also documented in the Self-service portal under New Student Orientation.

Organizational matters

As of mid of August, all the information you will need to get started, such as the class to which you have been assigned and the links to the timetable tool and your book list will be available on the SML Intranet site. The links you need can also be found on this page.

To enable us to determine which Swiss canton is liable to pay for your studies, you need to complete the personal data sheet. You will receive more information by e-mail in June resp. November.

All students receive a CampusCard. It is a legitimation card, means of payment and enables access to buildings.
