Bachelor’s degree programmes

With a Bachelor’s degree, you receive a high-level professional qualification. You increase your employability prospects and become highly desirable as a specialist in your field. The degree programme generally lasts three years.

In order to ensure that assessment is standardised and comparable throughout Switzerland and across Europe, students' performance is rated according to the ECTS system, in addition to receiving a grade. Students are required to gain 180 ECTS credits for a Bachelor’s degree.

Unless otherwise stated, the language of instruction is German. Certain modules are taught in English.

Aviation

The Bachelor's degree programme in Aviation enables you to enter the aviation industry. You will first acquire the necessary scientific and subject-specific fundamentals, then choose between the specialisations Technical Engineering, Operational Engineering, and Airline Transport Pilot. It can be combined with training as a commercial pilot. This programme can be taken in the International Profile and the Entrepreneurial Profile.

Data Science

The Data Science programme covers all aspects from data collection, preparation, and analysis, through machine learning based on data, to visualisation and implementation of data products. It also addresses topics such as the responsible use of data. In the final study year, a wide range of elective modules allows you to apply this knowledge in various disciplines and industries. This programme can be taken in the International Profile and the Entrepreneurial Profile.

Electrical Engineering

In the Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering, you acquire a solid foundation in mathematics and physics. Building on this, you receive subject-specific training in areas such as electronics, digital technology, signals and systems, and computer science. In the final study year, you can set your own focus through elective modules – for example, in automation, drives and energy systems, computer engineering, wireless communications, or signal processing and sensor electronics. This programme can be taken in the International Profile and the Entrepreneurial Profile.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Energy and Environmental Engineering provides in-depth technical knowledge of industrial thermal processes and electrical systems, as well as an understanding of economic processes and sustainable development. You can choose between specialisations in Thermal Energy Engineering, Electrical Renewable Energies, and Sustainable Development / Environment. This programme can be taken in the Entrepreneurial Profile.

Computer Science

In the Computer Science programme, you acquire fundamental knowledge across the field of computer science. You deepen your expertise through electives such as Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, or Service Engineering. The programme prepares you for careers in process development and production, for example in managing and developing complex ICT systems and applications or working as a project manager. Mechanical Engineering

In the Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering, you acquire fundamentals in mathematics, physics, technical mechanics, fluid and thermodynamics, materials science, and measurement and control engineering. You learn product development, covering all stages from concept to manufacturing. In the final study year, you choose from specialisations such as Simulation and Artificial Intelligence in Engineering, Materials Technology, Product Development, Production and Automation, Biomechanical Engineering, Energy and Fluid Dynamics, or General Mechanical Engineering. This programme can be taken in the International Profile and the Entrepreneurial Profile.

Systems Engineering (Robotics & Mechatronics / Medical Technology)

In the Bachelor's degree programme in Systems Engineering, you learn to understand, model, simulate, and control the interaction of mechanical, electronic, optical, and digital components. After a solid foundational education, you choose between two specialisations: Robotics and Mechatronics, or Medical Technology.

  • In Robotics and Mechatronics, you gain expertise in industrial robotics, autonomous robots (mobile and intelligent robotics), mechatronic systems in automation, vehicle and aerospace technology, and mechatronic product development.
  • In Medical Technology, you learn to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
    With elective modules in Applied Optics, Optoelectronics, Image Processing, and Sensor Technology, you can also specialise in Photonics.

The Engineering and Management programme opens access to all industrial and service sectors. Engineering and Management combine mathematical, technical, and business competencies. You acquire knowledge in business administration, computer science, data analysis, and statistics. You learn to analyse business processes, design products and services according to demand, and use resources efficiently and sustainably. Depending on your specialisation, you focus on Industrial Engineering, Business Mathematics, or Data and Service Engineering. This programme can be taken in the International Profile and the Entrepreneurial Profile.
