neon – Digital Financial Health Coach
Description
A 2024 study by comparis found that 16% of Swiss persons cannot pay their taxes on time. In 2016, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office found that 20% of residents were unable to meet an unexpected expense of CHF 2500. Thus, a substantial part of the Swiss population struggles to pay important bills and manage their funds efficiently. At the same time, core expenses such as healthcare steadilyincrease. This implies that there is a broader segment of the population that - albeit not in an acutely perilous financial situation - would profit substantially from improving their financial health.
No solution currently available in the market combines a systematic self-service approach to financial health improvement with the functionality of a comprehensive core banking app. This innovation project aims to create a digital personalized financial health coach that empowers users to understand, measure, and enhance their financial health continuously.
We plan to integrate the three essential steps for achieving long-term behavioral change—intention setting, implementation, and progress tracking—directly into the neon app as part of the financial health coach. We will leverage behavioral science to derive a robust set of intentions and corresponding actions, whose implementation is captured by a corresponding and scientifically sound scoring and tracking system that meaningfully measures financial health in different, user-dependent contexts.
