Spoofer Localization (S-LOC)

GNSS Spoofing Localization: The method focuses on the detection based on a dual-antenna setup with tests involving a GNSS repeater acting as "spoofer".

Beschreibung

Within this work we intend to test solutions to the two described issues above. The developed solutions shall be tested using an aircraft and a maintenance hangar with an active GNSS repeater.

The following activities are planned regarding

  • An analysis of the GNSS signals using a dual-antenna receiver under real-world conditions and the transition to a GNSS repeater signal, mimicking the impact of a static spoofer that is commonly observed in aviation today. Specifically, the observed measurements will be compared to observations of a real-world spoofer in terms of C/N0 changes and further enhanced by analysis of antenna baseline monitoring for a reliable spoofing detection. Furthermore, GNSS avionics of a test aircraft will be exposed to the repeater signals and the aircraft’s output ADS-B data will be analyzed regarding potentially observable metrics for identification of spoofing.
  • The work regarding RFI localization is a continuation of the work carried out under the project J-Lo, which successfully demonstrated a UAV-mounted jammer localization using a directional and an omnidirectional antenna for C/N0 monitoring. One of the identified weaknesses of the proposed method was the dependence on a GNSS-based heading information which could be difficult to obtain in case of the presence of interference. Hence, a more robust integration using an IMU shall be developed and tested. While previous tests were only tested regarding the localization of jammers, it is now intended to test also the localization of spoofers (initially simulated again by GNSS repeaters in a maintenance hangar).
