Online monitoring of cell health in antibody production processes
Online monitoring of cell health in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO)-based antibody production processes in the benchtop bioreactor.
Description
As part of the Innocheque project by Innosuisse, the cell quality of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell-based antibody production processes is being investigated.
In a first step, measurement methods are being developed using a flow cytometer to determine the ratio of living and dead cells. In the next step, this method will be automated and transferred to a continuously measuring flow cytometer. Finally, bioreactor cultivations are carried out on a benchtop scale with the CHO cells and the cell quality is monitored continuously and online over the entire cultivation period.
This process makes it possible to gain a direct insight into cell quality and thus also product formation. In future, this method could be used to simplify process development and monitoring.
