Serious Game on Change Processes in Organisations
Description
Change processes are part of everyday life in organisations and therefore also in public administrations. However, they often prove difficult to carry out successfully, as learning cultures, attitudes, and emotional aspects such as uncertainty, resistance, and ambivalence strongly shape how they unfold. Serious games are game-based learning environments that convey knowledge and skills without giving up entertainment. They are particularly suited to change processes, as participants can try out decisions without risk, reflect on their own attitudes, and experience the dynamics of resistance and uncertainty first-hand.
There are currently only a few serious games on this topic, and the existing ones mostly rely on economic logics and generic content. Highly regulated and hierarchical organisations such as public administrations, banks, or insurance companies, however, follow a different logic, and the emergent, process-oriented aspects of change remain superficial in the existing games. The aim of the project is to systematically analyse the market potential of a serious game on change processes precisely in these organisations and to assess its practical feasibility. The analysis captures existing offerings, the needs of target groups, and the content gaps. On this basis, the practice partner will then develop concepts for game content and game mechanics. Methodologically, the approach is based on roughly six to twelve qualitative expert interviews with specialists in serious games and organisational development, as well as with people from municipalities, cantons, and the federal government who work in personnel, organisational, or change processes.
