Smart Digital Real Estate Management: A Platform for Evidence-Based Knowledge Exchange and Analysis, enabling the integration of data, technology, and operational insights
The project is a roundtable series initiated by ZHAW that brings together academia and industry in the field of smart building management. Its objective is to establish a platform for critically examining current developments such as AI, IoT, and data-driven approaches, and for translating them into concrete, practice-oriented solutions.
Result
At its core, the project delivers a structured understanding of how digital technologies (especially AI, IoT, and data-driven approaches) create measurable value in building operations. It identifies key application areas, success factors, and barriers related to the implementation of Smart Building Management in practice.
In addition, the project produces concrete outputs such as jointly developed solution approaches, best practices, and strategic recommendations derived from real-world case discussions. These insights help bridge the gap between technological potential and operational implementation.
Another important outcome is the establishment of a collaborative knowledge platform and expert community, enabling continuous exchange between academia and industry.
Overall, the project contributes to more informed, data-driven decision-making and supports the development of innovative and implementable strategies in digital real estate and facility management.
Description
The project is catalized by a roundtable series initiated by the competence group smart building management at ZHAW, aimed at fostering exchange between academia and practice. Its objective is to systematically analyze current developments such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and data-driven approaches, and to assess their concrete value for building operations.
Within a structured format consisting of expert inputs, case studies, and interactive discussions, real-world challenges are addressed and solution approaches are developed collaboratively. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding how digital technologies can be applied not only theoretically but also effectively in practice to optimize building performance.
The project will establish a platform for evidence-based knowledge exchange, collaborative learning, and the development of innovative, implementable strategies in digital real estate and facility management.
