Testing the Waters: An Experimental Conference Using AI for Interpretation

Thanks to AI live translations, conferences can now be simultaneously translated into other languages by tools. However, little is known about how AI live translations affect communication and interaction between conference participants.
- Is the translation listener-friendly?
- Is it fast enough to ensure that references to presentation slides remain understandable?
- How do listeners perceive AI live translations?
To explore these questions, an AI-translated mock conference will be organised. The findings will be fed back into the training of future language professionals.
