From Claim to Evidence: Assessing the Effectiveness of Art and Design for Sustainability
The project explores the impact of art and design in the context of sustainability. Its starting point is artistic assumptions, positions, and intentions ("claim"), whose actual effects ("evidence") are to be qualitatively and quantitatively assessed, evaluated, and made visible.
Description
Through speculation, staging, and aestheticization, the arts make an important contribution to raising awareness of sustainability issues. But how can such effects be demonstrated? To address this question, the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) collaborates with the Environmental and Sustainability Psychology Group at ZHAW.
The Environmental and Sustainability Psychology Group systematically evaluates selected art and design projects, thereby making their contribution to sustainability measurable and comprehensible.
