Study on New Treatment Options for Low Back Pain
Low back pain is very common. Many people experience back pain that affects their everyday life, work, or leisure activities. In many cases, no clear physical cause for the pain can be found. This is known as non-specific low back pain.
Today, we know that low back pain can be influenced by many different factors. These include physical, psychological, and social factors. The way our nervous system processes pain can also play an important role.
In this study, we are investigating a new approach to treating low back pain. With this new approach patients will learn more about how pain develops and how the body processes pain. They will also take part in exercises designed to improve movement and awareness of their body. Initial studies suggest that this approach may help people with low back pain.
We want to find out whether this treatment is more effective than standard physiotherapy. The study compares two approaches: the new treatment, which combines pain education with targeted movement training, and standard physiotherapy, which includes individual exercises and manual therapy.
The aim of the study is to find out which treatment is more effective in reducing pain and limitations in everyday life in people with non-specific low back pain.
WebApp to support patients
The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning is involved in this major international project on low back pain. CITL's main role is to design and implement an app to support the treatment of patients and the interaction between patients and therapists. CITL will also support the creation of educational content.
