E-cargo bike accident prevention (ECAB)
E-cargo bikes have evolved from a niche product into an established component of urban transport within just a few years. This development increases the urgency of systematically investigating safety-related issues. The second part of the project addresses the prevention of specific types of accidents involving e-cargo bikes.
Description
The project centres on two guiding questions:
- How can e-cargo-bike riders with different levels and types of experience be specifically empowered to use the vehicle safely?
- And which preventive measures are suitable for sustainably improving road safety in everyday use?
Particular attention is given to the safe transport of children, correct load securing, riding under challenging conditions such as wet weather or darkness, and route choice in urban environments.
