Swiss Behavior Change Network
Description
The “Swiss Behavior Change Network” project addresses the challenge of motivating people to adopt more sustainable behaviors – for example in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, or mobility. Such changes are essential for achieving societal goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the context of climate change.
Although the field of “behavior change” has gained significant international importance and connects disciplines such as applied psychology and behavioral economics, Switzerland still lacks an overarching platform that systematically connects stakeholders from research and practice. At the same time, Switzerland possesses substantial but fragmented expertise that has so far remained only partially visible and accessible.
The goal of the “Swiss Behavior Change Network” is to close this gap and create a national platform for exchange, visibility, and knowledge transfer. The network is intended to bring together professionals from academia, consulting, and applied practice, while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue. It will serve as a hub for sharing insights, research questions, and best practices among stakeholders from businesses, public administration, and NGOs. In addition, the network aims to act as a point of contact for media representatives and decision-makers, facilitating access to relevant expertise. Another key objective is to provide students with perspectives and make potential career paths in research, consulting, and practice within the field of behavior change more visible.
To achieve these goals, a network will be established that systematically connects professionals and institutions from various sectors. Planned exchange formats include events, workshops, and thematic platforms that promote knowledge transfer. Furthermore, the network will take on a matchmaking function by connecting organizations with suitable experts for projects, consulting, or training programs. By pooling existing competencies and actively networking relevant stakeholders, the topic of behavior change in Switzerland will be strengthened and institutionally anchored in the long term.
