Data Driven Decision-Making Framework for Improving Sensor Device Product Quality (EHD)
This project proposes an innovative approach to improve product quality through early detection of potential manufacturing defects that could lead to premature device failures. It is based development of machine learning models on manufacturing, testing, and field data.
Description
This project proposes an innovative approach to improve product quality through early detection of potential manufacturing defects that could lead to premature device failures.
Endress+Hauser is a manufacturer of high-quality measurement devices for different industries world-wide. A few examples are, power & energy, food & beverage, chemical, oil & gas and life sciences. Traditionally Endress+Hauser is known for high quality equipment as well as being able to provide technical advice and support for device selection and installation.
However, Endress+Hauser is now facing the following business challenges:
- Competition offering increased warranty on their products.
- Costumers requiring higher quality, which specifically means reliability, of the products.
Modern advancement in digital technologies provides opportunities to manufacturing companies by using the data in a more productive manner by utilizing advanced data analytics methods to improve detection of defects, identify root causes of failures and automatize optimal corrective action in the right time.
To address the business challenges, Endress+Hauser has defined the following value creating objectives:
- Increase product quality by leveraging the state-of-the-art analytics and merge production, testing and field into one analytics platform. By doing so, any correlation between product failures and influencing variables can be quickly detected and correcte actions taken.
- Develop a framework where point 1 can executed easily and efficiently with current personnel.
- Perform point 1 such that the costumers can be offered extended warrantied compared to today without extra cost and risk for Endress+Hauser.
The framework will be developed and implemented for 3 different product lines at Endress+Hauser.
