Work at ZHAW

Position

  • PhD researcher at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, School of Engineering, since June 2024. I work in the EU-funded project AI4Realnet on the operationalisation of trustworthy AI in safety-critical infrastructure, developing and evaluating governance instruments together with European operators in railway, power grid and air traffic management. Alongside research, I organise the PhD Community of the School of Engineering and a monthly public meetup series on trustworthy AI, supported by the Digitalisation Initiative of the Canton of Zurich.
  • Research. I work on the gap between AI regulation and development practice in safety-critical infrastructure, developing adoption-oriented instruments for different stages of the AI lifecycle: translating normative principles into system requirements, integrating them into engineering work, and structuring risks for assessment. Two instruments are in use, tested with European operators in railway, power grid and air traffic management within the EU-funded AI4Realnet project. Current interest: how the same governance expectations are operationalised under different regulatory logics. Activity. Teaching and thesis supervision in applied responsible AI development and AI risk assessment. Organiser of the PhD Community of ZHAW's School of Engineering and of a monthly public meetup series on trustworthy AI supported by the Digitalisation Initiative of the Canton of Zurich.
