PhD Student Pascal Sager Selected for Swissnex Embodied Intelligence Week in San Francisco

PhD student Pascal Sager has been selected for the competitive Embodied Intelligence Week at Swissnex San Francisco. The program connects Swiss researchers and entrepreneurs exploring the future of AI and robotics.

Pascal Sager, PhD student at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences’ Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI), has been selected to participate in the Embodied Intelligence Week hosted by Swissnex San Francisco. The competitive program brings together a small group of Swiss innovators exploring the interface of robotics and artificial intelligence. The initiative fosters exchange between academia, industry, and entrepreneurship, connecting Swiss participants with the vibrant research and startup community of the Bay Area.

At the CAI, Pascal’s research focuses on neuroscience-inspired approaches to world models for robots. His goal is to enable machines to learn from physical interaction and develop structured internal representations of their environment—an essential step toward more general and interpretable AI.

“Intelligence must be grounded in real-world interaction,” Pascal explains. “By combining insights from neuroscience and robotics, we hope to build systems that understand the world not just through data, but through experience.” His participation reflects CAI’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and international collaboration in embodied and trustworthy AI.
