Dr. Jorge Peña Queralta Selected for Swissnex Staff Mobility Program to Shanghai, China

Dr. Jorge Peña Queralta, Head of the Embodied Mobile Agents research group at ZHAW’s Centre for AI, will be supported by Swissnex in Shanghai, China, in 2026. During his exchange in Shanghai, he will explore collaboration opportunities in robotics and Physical AI with leading Chinese universities and robotics companies.

Dr. Jorge Peña Queralta, Head of the Embodied Mobile Agents research group at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI), has been awarded a place in the ZHAW–Swissnex Staff Mobility Program 2026. His mobility exchange will take him to Shanghai, China, where he will engage with leading universities, research centers, and robotics companies to establish new R&D and education partnerships.

The visit will focus on advancing collaboration in the emerging field of Agentic Physical AI, which connects artificial intelligence, robotics, and cognitive science to create adaptive and intelligent physical agents. During his two-week stay, Dr. Peña Queralta plans to visit research labs and technology hubs in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen.

The mobility initiative will also strengthen educational and staff exchange between ZHAW and partner universities such as Fudan University, one of China’s Top 3 universities. The outcomes of the visit will contribute to building long-term collaboration frameworks for researcher and student mobility between ZHAW and Chinese institutions.

Dr. Peña Queralta’s participation in the Swissnex program complements his broader engagement in both local and international robotics and AI initiatives, including the ZHAW Robotics Initiative and the upcoming Davos Tech Summit 2026, which ZHAW is co-organizing.
