Description

The MIKE study focuses on the media use of six to thirteen years old children. It is the first representative study of media use of children in Switzerland and is conducted every two years since 2015. MIKE stands for Medien, Interaktion, Kinder, Eltern (media, interaction, children, parents). Each time, the study surveys over 1,000 children and over 600 Parents in the three large language regions of Switzerland. In addition to a differentiated description of the media use of children other aspects are assessed, such as non-medial leisure activities and socio-demographic characteristics of families or attitudes and media use of parents. Thus, differences between the language regions and between families of different origins can be identified or connections with parenting styles can be observed.
