e-SKI - The Principle of Maximum Effectiveness and Efficiency
Similar to the electrification of bicycles, motorised ascent assistance systems are emerging in ski touring. The e-SKI module is biomechanically evaluated regarding efficiency and reduction of physical effort and compared with an existing exoskeleton-based ascent system.
Description
In standardized treadmill tests, participants use both the e-SKI module and Hypershell under identical conditions.
EMG, motion analysis, and spirometry quantify differences in
- muscle activity,
- movement economy, and
- physiological load
to assess efficiency and identify optimization potential for the e-SKI-Module.
