Evaluation study on the treatment of mothers with postpartum depression and their babies at the Inselhof Day Centre
Postpartum depression affects 10–20% of mothers. Inselhof's day clinic, opened in September 2025, treats around 30 mothers together with their babies each year. Psychotherapy, nursing and social pedagogy place the mother–infant relationship at the heart of care. ZHAW is conducting accompanying research on the programme.
Description
The Day Clinic Inselhof offers interdisciplinary day-clinic treatment for mothers with postpartum depression together with their infants. A naturalistic mixed-methods study by ZHAW evaluates effectiveness, acceptability and feasibility from the perspective of patients, the treatment team and referrers. The primary outcome is depressive symptoms (EPDS), assessed at admission, discharge, and three and six months after discharge.
