Smart Grid International Research Facility Network under IEA International Energy Agency (IEA-SIRFN-4)
The ISGAN-SIRFN initiative provides collaborative testing and evaluation capabilities for the international community, supporting the improved design, implementation, and validation of smart grids and their functionalities. A key focus is the reliable integration of clean energy technologies into modern power systems.
Description
The Smart Grid International Research Facility Network (SIRFN) is a network of smart grid researchers with test facilities in countries participating in the Implementing Agreement for a Cooperative Program on Smart Grids (ISGAN). The joint testing and evaluation capabilities of ISGAN-SIRFN are intended to be utilized by the international community to enable improved design, implementation, and testing of smart grids and their functions, including the reliable integration of clean energy technologies. The work is carried out by a global network of experts and managed across four priority areas.
The ZHAW contributes to the work packages “Testing of Power Supply Systems” and “Advanced Laboratory-Based Testing Methods” by bringing its extensive experience in the practical implementation of challenging scientific projects to bear.
