Innovating Nepalese aquaculture: Technology advancement, integration in the WEFH nexus and social inclusion (NEPAQUA)

NEPAQUA is an international research and innovation project designed to drive a sustainable transition in Nepal’s aquaculture sector. By combining scientific, technical, and community-based approaches, NEPAQUA aims to enhance
- food security,
- resource efficiency, and
- local livelihoods.
The project brings together local communities, farmers, researchers, policymakers, and educators to co-develop innovative, low-cost aquaculture systems and training programs tailored to Nepali needs. Activities include
- the creation of hands-on aquaponic prototypes,
- curriculum co-design, and
- baseline assessments using a Water-Energy-Food-Health Nexus approach.
