Leveraging Leadership for Responsible Research and Innovation in Territories (RRI-Leaders)

Description

The RRI-LEADERS project explores the application and sustainability of the RRI paradigm within territorial research and innovation systems, with a special emphasis on instrumentalising territorial leadership in the design of policies that are anticipatory, inclusive, reflexive and responsive.

To improve the future application of RRI, four European settings are analysed as case studies:

  1. Western Macedonia (Greece)
  2. the city of Sofia (Bulgaria)
  3. the city of Thalwil (Switzerland) and
  4. the city of Sabadell (Catalonia, Spain)

The four territories have different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, institutional and decision-making infrastructures, R&D landscapes, and dynamics between territorial agents.

RRI in the territories is analysed and integrated through a co-creation process, which includes multi-actor collaboration and interaction. The aim of this process is to focus on the real challenges related to the chosen topics in each territory in order to develop a policy action plan based on the RRI principles and provide responsive solutions.
